In CEW, Project Review Meetings (PRM) are conducted on a weekly basis to discuss the progress of all ongoing client funded projects. In these meetings, the project managers and coordinators present the progress of their respective projects, thereby allowing the management to gauge the current progress, performance levels and shortcomings if any. CEW has been awarded two new client-funded projects from KBR-AMCDE, Al-Khobar to carry out research studies. The first one (CEW02620) is entitled “Environmental Impact Assessment for the Replacement of 48” CLS-14 Pipeline in Ras Tanura (BI-10-15517)”. The second one (CEW 02621) is also an EIA Study entitled “Environmental Impact Assessment for the Replacement of Water Injection Pipeline Facilities in Berri Offshore Field (BI-12-19000)”.

An oceanographic cruise in the Western Arabian Gulf was organized by the Centre for Environment & Water (CEW) of KFUPM. The objective of this cruise was to carry out an Environment Impact Assessment Study in the Arabian Gulf for a Research Project (CEW2500) funded by Saudi Aramco that is currently in operation here. The Water Resources Section of CEW-RI participated in the 6th Water Arabia Conference & Exhibition organized by the Saudi Arabian Water Environment Association (SAWEA) and the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and made two research presentations. The Conference was held at Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia during February 11-13, 2020. Dr. Mohammed Benaafi representing the section delivered a talk on the qualitative and quantitative changes of the surface water bodies in Al-Hasa region.
CEW Team comprising of the Dr. Wail Sulaiman Falath (Center Director), Dr. Manikandan, Mr. Ashraf and Mr. Humayun participated in the one day, Environmental forum and Exhibition organized by Saudi Aramco on 23 December 2019 held in Manifa. The forum provided effective platform for both Saudi Aramco employee and Service Providers to share their knowledge and experience on various environmental issues.

Dr. Muhammad M. Al-Saggaf, the newly appointed President of KFUPM visited the Center as part of his visit to the Research Institute on 16 February 2020. He was welcomed to the Center by Dr. Wail Sulaiman Fallatah (Director CEW).
Dr. Saggaf, during his short visit, took a tour around the labs in the Center. He evinced keen interest in knowing the type of research being pursued by the Center. The Director explained to him the various kinds of research work undertaken and also appraised him about the challenges faced by the Center.
A team of researchers, students and dignitaries from King Abdulaziz University, Jeddha visited the Center on 16 January 2020. The main objective of this short visit was to understand the research capabilities of the Center and also to establish research tie ups with KFUPM
