Due to its engaging and vibrant qualities, CEW has completed well over 200 research projects since 1980 covering various compartments of the environment such as atmosphere, terrestrial, freshwater, coastal and marine. The aspects covered in these projects include air quality, climate change, waste management, water management, biotope survey in the terrestrial, coastal, marine and island ecosystems, floral and faunal mapping (phytoplankton, seaweeds, seagrasses, mangroves, zooplankton, corals, benthos, fishes, birds, reptiles and mammals) in various ecosystems, underwater noise, water circulation, nutrients, contaminants, sediment characteristics, environmental impact assessment, cumulative impacts and mitigation measures. In short, CEW does extensive environmental monitoring prior to the commissioning of the projects, feasibility surveys, monitoring during both the construction phase and post construction phase besides compliance monitoring. The center has the necessary manpower, skills, expertise and infrastructural facilities for carrying out all these tasks efficiently. CEW has always been consolidating its accomplishments and with renewed vigor and enthusiasm has been marching ahead with its lofty objective of cleaner environment for the growth and prosperity of the Kingdom.
